Another Vet visit!

So since we had little faith in our old vet, since she was a week from birth and he could not tell she was pregnant, we had a visit with a new vet yesterday. At lovely VCA Oshtemo pet hospital and saw the wonderful vet named Amber. I could tell right away that this vet was loads better than our old one. From the minute we walked in they fawned over our animals and treated us like we where really welcome. Then we get into the room within a minute maybe less of arriving. A vet assistant come in and says she would like to see the puppies and proceeds to coo and fawn over the puppies with delight while not being neglectful of Maja. Where as Maja was always terrified of our old vet she seemed almost at easy by the end of the appointment. The puppies all weighed in at over two pounds and seem to be developing quite nicely. I will have a youtube video up when its edited.

Another thing that happened yesterday was Vanilla got to meet her future mom. She was so calm and happy in the woman's hands I know its going to be a great match they seem so well suited for each other! 

The weights are as follows.
Vanilla Bean 2.3 lbs
Lima Bean 2.3 lbs
Coco Bean 2.5 lbs
Pinto Bean 2.8 lbs
Maja 42 lbs

Poor Kitty

I think the hardest adjustment of having puppies has been how Monster is trying to adjust. All her encounters with dogs other than Maja have been negative. She was terrified of Maja when I brought Maja home. It took me leaving for three and a half months and Maja being one of her only companions to get use to Maja. THEN BAM PUPPIES. I don't think the puppies would be so bad if it where not for the fact that Maja has turned aggressive on her. I understand mothers instinct and wanting to protect her puppies but I wish she would remember that Monster is her friend and not bite my cat. I am hoping that when the puppies go Maja will be a little more accepting of Monster. If anyone has any advice on helping Maja and Monster become friends again I would love to hear it I am so scared that Maja is going to kill Monster.

The Beans are a week old!

This Saturday the beans turned one week old! I am so proud of them they are big strong and healthy. They can almost stand and their crawl is starting to develop into more of a walk! They can also yawn which is super cute. I have yet to catch yawns on camera though!

First Vet visit!

So the beans had their first vet visit today! This being with the same vet who said that Maja was not pregnant! Anyways... The puppers all seem to be doing good all fat and healthy even the runt does not seem like a runt to the vet just the smallest of the litter still weighing at over half a pound without even being a week old! The did apparently comment on how skinny Maja was but like we have noticed she has been skinny ever since we got her! While she has put on weight since we have had her she has been hovering around 38 pounds. Thats why when we took her to the vet for a pregnancy test and she was 45 pounds we guessed we might have puppies on our hands and we guessed right but long story short Maja and the beans are happy and healthy!
Sorry I dont have more details I was at my own doctors appointment at the time I apparently sprained my shoulder OUCH!

Poor Mother Maja

Poor mother Maja she never gets a moment to herself her ever waking thought is consumed with her puppies but I suppose thats the way it is with all mothers! She will get out the box to stretch and scratch only to run back at ever little peep and squeak. All she wants is a break from the beans but even going outside has her wanting to come back in worried. Poor Maja.
On the other hand she has been holding it in so long trying to stay with the beans that she had a pretty large accident in the house luckily it was not on the carpet but rather on the vinyl where it was easy to clean up so good dog Maja!

Monster is getting more and more curious about the strange noises in the whelping box and that has increased Maja anxiousness ten fold! Funny thing is when I showed Monster a puppy she was absolutely terrified of the puppy hissed at it and ran. Nope puppies are not Monsters forte!

We have hesitantly settled on some temporary names for Maja and her beans!
Ladies first!

So the brown black and white one formally known as Cookie has been rechristened Coco Bean! And her sister laying right next to her is named Vanilla Bean!
Now on to the boys!

The bigger of the two boys is now known as Pinta Bean and the runt of the little is Lima Bean Ive managed to tell the two apart because Lima bean has a darker muzzle and little black spots on his paws!

WARNING TMI POST

So lets get down and dirty into the gritty truth about puppies or more importantly the mother dog. So when the beans where born Maja was in so much pain that she was biting the couch and screaming. It killed my I wanted to cry along with her I hated seeing my baby in pain. Each time when the puppies where born they where born in a sac called placenta we actually had to get in there and rip open the sac because Maja couldn't get it. Then Maja proceeded to eat the placenta and clean her puppies and when the next one came we would take the last puppy so she didnt step or bite the puppy and we would dry off the puppy in a towel. Well due to her eating the sac we now have an unforeseen consequence it causes diarrhea VERY VERY BAD diarrhea poor Maja has to go out every few hours and three to six times at night to go potty. I think the next time that Maja has puppies I wont let her eat the sac because this poor girl is not a happy camper.
There is also one more thing that I have noticed that is not TMI but kinda sad and frustrating. Every litter has a runt and out litter runt is not that small but still smaller than the rest of the litter and I have noticed that Maja seems not to let the runt latch or feed off her because she either does not have enough milk because naturally the runt is the last to eat. Another reason the runt does the weird jerking when he eats he thrashes his head from side to side very violently for a puppy who weighs less than a pound. So because of that Maja naturally does not want to feed it. Our bottles for the puppy should be coming tomorrow and we will start puppy feeding out of a bottle till then heres to hoping and praying that he is getting enough till then.

New additions to the family!

Yesterday morning my roommates dog Maja delivered four healthy beautiful puppies. Two males two females. They are named Sugar, Vanilla Bean, Cream and Cookie! Cookie the Brown black and white one will be my puppy to be trained to be a service dog for my disability. We had to begun to suspect that she was pregnant because she began developing and gaining weight so we took her to the vet and the vet did a feel test and declared that she was having a false pregnancy! So we took her home and started cracking jokes about how she was a hormonal teen! Little did we know... Less than a week later we head to a friends birthday party and sleep till 10am at 11am as we where getting up and around we get a call from our dog sitter. "Hello? Uhm Maja just delivered a puppy on my couch." So we rush to get things together and come over to find Maja and her beautiful puppy Cream cuddled on the couch within 30 minutes of arriving we had our second puppy Cookie! The last two Sugar and Vanilla Bean where born 15 and 30 minutes apart and our little family was complete! Thanks for joining me on this wild ride I will keep you guys updated on the puppies! 

Another Short Story!

This is the year 2019 magic has been retuned to the world after the last magical creature was released from captivity by humans. In return the Fae gave back magic to the world turning one third of the worlds population into mythical creatures. Robin finished skimming her story with a yawn, history was her worst subject and she found it so boring. She went back to reading. This gave way to the rise of super hero’s and the creatures they fight on behalf of the world. Robin stopped reading again and rubbed her eyes she looked at the clock next to her laptop it read 1:37am. She had to be up in a few hours she vaguely remembered. Rising from her desk chair she made her way to her bed and laid down on top of the covers falling asleep almost instantly. She awoke to her alarm at 7am. Grumbling Robin slapped the button on the top of the annoying little machine. Getting up she felt the stiffness in her muscles from sleeping in the cold all night. She walked to her bathroom and used the toilet then washed her hands looking up she looked right into the mirror over the bathroom sink and froze. Her eyes. Shock and fear coursed through her, and she let out a scream. One of her eyes had turned pure white while the other was yellow. She heard her dad burst in the room. “Robin! Are you okay?” He said in a frantic voice coming to the bathroom door.

Robin turned flinging open the door “Dad there’s something wrong with my eyes we need to go to the hospital!” She said this all very fast starting to cry.

“Oh honey” Her dad said enveloping her in a warm hug. “There’s nothing wrong but I think its time we had a talk. Let me get your mother, you go sit on your bed.” He let go of her walking out the room.

Robin dared another glance at the mirror and saw that the yellow eye had turned blue, she let out a little whimper and walked to her bed sitting down. Her dad came back a few moments later her mom in tow. She took one look and Robin and burst out in tears going over to hug Robin. Robin was so shocked by this she didn’t know what to do she had never seen her mother cry, she was a very strong woman. Robin patted her mom’s back awkwardly. Her dad gently pulled her mom off her saying “Come on Tracie enough of that.” Her mom sat on the bed next to Robin whipping her eyes.
“I’m sorry Robin I didn’t mean to burst like that” Her mom said when she composed herself. Robins dad grabbed her desk chair pulling it over to the bed sitting down.

“Now Robin you know your mother and I love you very much.” Her dad started “and we hoped this would never happen to you but we have to tell you something.” He opened his mouth to say something but no words came out then he took a deep shuddering breath and tried again this time the words came “Your not fully human Robin. In fact we don’t know if your even a little human.”

Dead silence greeted these words. Robin tried to grasp what they where saying then she managed to find her words “What do you mean I’m not human I’m your child!”

“Yes you are and you always will be but the way you came to be was not by the… normal way.” Her dad replied more than a little awkwardly.

“How did I come to be then?” Robin said more than a little concerned.

“Well your mother and I wanted a child but we couldn’t conceive naturally, one day as I was working I came across this homeless woman on my patrol. I asked her if she needed help and she said she just needed some money for a bus ticket. I pulled out my wallet and gave her all the money I had on me at the time, the woman seemed surprised and then asked me if I could have one wish what it would be and I told her me and my wife wanted a child more than anything. She said you will have a child and vanished into thin air. I was startled but thought nothing of it, when I got home that night your mother told me she was pregnant. I was so delighted I told her of the woman and we celebrated we never thought you wouldn’t be human like us.”

Robin was silent trying to process the information she had just been given.

Her mother spoke up first “Are you mad at up for not telling you?”

Robin shook her head “No I could never be mad at you I’m just surprised.” Another thought came to Robin “Dose this mean I have to go to a school for mythic’s?”

Both her parents looked at each other and smiled.

Short Story!

Julia walked into the coffee shop in the wee hours of the morning when nobody should rightly be awake especially nobody who stay up till god know when writing a term paper. Come to think of it Julia could not remember when she got to sleep last night. She walked to stand in line scrolling through news articles on her phone thinking only of the sweet bliss of coffee and how she was probably going to bomb the next test that she hadn’t studied for last night. She popped her head up smelling the faint aroma of smoke, looking around she say nothing and no smoke. The line crept forward, and she went back to scrolling on her phone. Suddenly she heard a loud knocking, she looked up and looked around but saw that it was a guy knocking on the wooden table rapping his knuckles in annoyance at the coffee taking so long. She was beginning to feel a tad unnerved and the smell of smoke persisted. She was just about to say something when it was her turn at the counter. She ordered a plain black coffee, paid for it, and was almost instantly handed a cup of coffee. She took her coffee and shuffled to the table in the corner of the coffee shop. Sitting down she pulled out her laptop out of her bag and opened it up to check her email before she headed to class. The smell of smoke was getting worse but no one seemed to notice so she tried her best to ignore it. She was scrolling through her email when she heard it “Wake up!” Loud and clear her head shot up and she looked around she saw a barista waking a seemingly hungover man up at another table. Julia looked back down at her email when someone a different voice now said again. “Wake up!” Even louder almost yelling her chest felt like it was being pounded on as she looked up everyone in the coffee shop was staring at her. “WAKE UP!” The voice roared one more time and Julia started awake, she was laying in the wet grass in the early dawn hours a handsome firefighter leaning over her looking panic stricken, relief washed over his face as she woke, Julia turned her head to the right side to see her apartment building on fire.
