Does anyone else do this?

My roommate has been trying to impress on me not to play the shoulda, woulda, coulda game. For those of you that dont know what that is basically its I shoulda done this, or I woulda done this, I coulda done this. Basically reflecting on past events that you cant change and nothing you do will change the out come.
Even though I realized how much time I waste playing this game I find myself going back to this game over and over and you know what? That's stressful! I don't need the extra stress or to waste energy playing this game that doesn't even make me happy. I should be spending that energy trying to make a positive impact on my life instead of fretting over the past. Now do I think this mindset will help me completely abandon the game. OF COURSE NOT! Im human and I have a good memory for my mistakes otherwise I wouldn't be able to learn from them but the next time I find myself needless playing the shoulda, woulda, coulda game I am going to ask myself is this helpful and if its not I am going to make a pointed effort to stop.

New Apartment, New Year!

So today is finally the day, Bennie (my roommate) and I, signed a lease on a two bedroom apartment I am kissing my tiny one bedroom apartment goodbye in favor of a new two bedroom! Bennie will get his own room and I will get an upgraded kitchen! I am so excited to start this new chapter in my life. I know that old mantra "new apartment, new me!" but I am not going to be doing to that I am just going to keep the old me she may have problems and dress like a potato but I like myself all in all BUT I do like the idea of decorating in a different way when moving into a new place I am so excited for all the new furniture and decor I am planning to get over the next year I am thinking light bright and airy. At least in the living room. I want to have plants and books galore to bad I broke my big book shelf oh well. I will post pictures when we start moving in on friday!

I feel bad for my cat.

So its not secret with anyone who has spent time with me that I struggle pretty hard with depression and other metal illness. This makes it hard to keep up with my obligations blogging, school, doctors appointments heck even showering and for the longest time I thought it only affected me. Now I have come to realize it affects those around me to. My messiness affects my roommate who is just trying to help me and the one I feel the most bad about it affecting is my poor cat.
Monster doesnt know why I lay in bed all day, or why I dont play with her anymore or why I dont pet her as much. All she knows is that I dont and that a cry a lot now and just lay in bed. She will bring me her toys and lay next to or on me purring trying to get me to move and on the occasion that I do move she will follow me meowing happily. I feel bad for her because I feel like I am letting her down it takes all my effort to just feed her and clean her litter box and there is no energy left for playing or pets. I have thought of rehoming her but I think I would be so devastated so today I took the time to try and play with her and it felt good and she was really happy. I think I am going to try playing with her more often.

New Years Goals

So I know I am little late to the game but please excuse me for that because I am trying. Depression has been hitting me pretty hard but I seem to be getting better and I am working on this year being a better year!
So on with my goals!

• Reach five followers on the blog! 

This goal seems pretty simple and I wanted to make an easy goal to just have but getting followers for the blog has become rather hard as of late but I will continue to work on it with a fever!

• Get 300 monthly views on the blog! 

Again another simple goal but this one is difficult you have to find just the right tags to get people to come look at your blog. Then you have to keep them coming back!

• Reach 50 subscribers on YouTube.

I bet you didn't know I had a YouTube. Well I do! Currently we have 23 subscribers on YouTube and we are attempting to get 50 subscribers to bolster our ranks. If you want to see cute animal videos, reviews and vlogs, search MonsterMotley on YouTube and look for the cat icon!

• Reach 100 followers on Instagram.

This is another difficult goal for me because while it is the platform I am most active on it is also the one I see the least amount of pay back from but I plan on turning that around this year and with hope my not to evil plans will pay off!  If you want to find my Instagram search MonsterMotleyCrew and it should pop up as Motley with a cute picture of Monster sitting on a blue laptop.

• Do Outfit of the Month with Monster again.

So anyone who know Monster and me have likely heard the story about how when Monster was younger she use to rip out tuffs of her fur from anxiety. At the time I could not afford the medicine to help with that so my vet recommended that I put her in baby clothes ( 0 to 3 months fit a cat) and that evolved into outfit of the month on my Facebook page where every month I would but a new outfit (or several new outfits) for monster to where. Well now I want to do that on my Instagram and I already have six outfits that I have bought to try this. Oh and before anyone says anything the outfit do not hurt her and she doesn't mind them.

• Buy a Condo/Duplex/house 

This has been a long time dream of mine is to own my own property/place to live. I am sick of renting and for as much as I pay in rent I could easily own my own place. I don't mind a fixer upper or even a tiny home I just want to be done with renting and noisy neighbors and the politics of living under someone else's thumb.

• Finish my Degree. 

Another most people know about me is that since I turned 18 I have been going to College off and on. At first I didn't have a GED so I couldn't get financial aid. Now that I have my GED I am still having some trouble getting financial aid so I am still paying for my classes out of pocket and that would be okay if I didn't want to finish this year but gosh darn it I want to finish my degree!

• Monetize my social media.

Now when I am talking about social media I am talking two platforms in particular. Instagram and the blog. Now don't worry I am not going to flood you with ads disguised as a post I will most likely have the ad tucked away to the side or like I am doing now do an ad post ever wednesday or sunday and I will try to make it plain as possible that it is an ad. I will also not advertise a product I don't believe in. Now I cant help what shows up in google ad sense but I will try to filter it as much as possible but if I do an advertised post I will try the product first. I hate to have to Monetize at all but if I am to continue putting out content I need some income. (Outfits and treats for the Monster are not cheap!)

Bye Bye Coco

Sorry I have not posted in a while to be honest getting out of bed was even a challenge one that some days I didnt rise to meet. Coco is gone and with that all the puppies are gone and I am super sad. Now I know for sure I could never be a dog breeder because watching that last puppy go was the hardest thing I ever had to do. Especially knowing if the circumstances had been different she could have been my puppy. I have comfort knowing she went to a really good home where everyone loves her and can keep her for a very long time. It was really hard to see her go even now I am crying thinking about her. When the time is right I will get a dog of my own and I will be happy to have her and take care of her. For now I have Monster and pictures (and of course the terror that is Maja).

Goodbye Lima Bean!

Lima Bean went to his new home on Sunday before Christmas! He will be living with a single dad and his son. I think they will have a a wonderful life the three of them I dont think the cats of that household are to thrilled though!

While Coco for the time being will continue to stay with us as we look for a home. She is progressing well on her potty training only having one or two accidents a day and her crate training is going as expected with a lot of sleepless nights due to howling. She even made it up the front steps of our apartment all on her own today which is a huge step because before she was terrified of the steps! Now we have to work on getting her to ask us to be taken out when she needs to go but right now I would be happy with getting her to sit!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! As we round off the year with our last holiday and my personal favorite I cant help but feel excited for the new year and all it will bring I will be posting on New year with a recap of the year and hopefully what to look forward to in the New year, but look forward to our last post of the year on Thursday it will be an update on puppies so far!

Goodbye Vanilla and Pinto!

So over the weekend to of our puppies went to their furever home. First to go on Saturday was Pinto. His owner came and signed the paper work and got her puppy. This was the owner of the stud that got Maja pregnant so this puppy was going to live with his daddy. I wish them both all the best. Then Vanilla went on Sunday to one of the fellow fighters in mine and my roommates armored wrestling group. She will have a wonderful life in a house full of kids and two other dogs. I think she found the best home possible and will never be lonely. That leaves Coco Bean and Lima Bean. Lima Bean has a few prospects of homes and with Coco Bean the search continues though we have a few people lined up. We are excited for our puppies and their future lives in new homes!

Announcement

Now that the puppies are not developing as fast to where I need updates every few days at least I have decided to change how often I post to every other day meaning Tuesday, and Thursday. Thank you for reading and I will see you on Tuesday with more posts!

Puppy Must Haves!

So every time I get a dog especially a puppy I get roughly the same things for the puppies so I thought I would share my list with you guys. If I left anything off or you get anything different for your list please feel free to share. Now these are in no particular order so don't mind the numbering.

1. Chew toys / teething toys. I think any puppy parent will agree that chew toys are an essential part of owning a puppy.

2. Puppy pads / Pee pads. I dont often approve of puppy pads simply because I feel it teaches the dog that its okay to go inside as long as its in this one spot, but ever since Maja had the puppys we have been using the puppy pads to save the floor because she cannot seem to hold her bladder over night and does not wake us up to go out.

3. Wet puppy food. Now our puppys are not quite old enough to grasp the concept of food yet other than the milk that Maja gives them but in a little less than a week they will start on the wondrous adventure that is food and the first food they will be getting is wet dog food! 

4. Training treats. Now I start my dogs early on training normally from the moment we get them but I am guess I will start the puppies on training when they turn about 5 weeks old this seems like a good age to try and harness that energy weather it will work is another matter entirely but you can be darn sure that I will have my handy dandy training treats at my side. 

5. Collars and leashes. This seems like a no brainer but I felt obligated to put it on here because it is a must have. I mean your puppys not going to follow everywhere right off the bat so you need a collar and a leash. 

6. Bowls. Another no brainer but you would be surprised at how many people feed their dog off of a plate. I was told very early on that this is a big no no because it teaches the puppy that its okay to take food off of a plate, ANY plate so I highly recommend having a bowl for the puppy to have all to themselves.

After a short stint in the hospital I am back with a vengeance! Expect longer and more detailed posts. 

Maja and the crate

All my dogs have been crate trained. From my first dog, freckles the beagle to my poodle Sammy the rainbow dog, and Coco bean will be no exception she will be crate trained like all the others. Now her mother Maja was crate trained rather poorly but crate trained never the less. So when I bought a crate for Coco, Maja naturally assumed it was for her! I put a blanket in the crate and Maja walked right in and laid down happy as a bug in a rug. Its even funnier because I accidentally bought an over sized crate for Coco so Maja looks tiny in this huge crate. I am glad Maja is spending so much time in the crate because it will smell like her and hopefully help the transition to the crate for Coco!

Messy Eaters

Maja and Monster have something common that drives me nuts. They are both very messy eaters. Maja cant eat her food unless she takes it out of her bowl. This inculds the messy treats that we give her like rice or chicken or anything with gravy. I have tried feeding her on the lament floors to reduce the mess but she will drag her bowl over to the carpet to eat or if we feed her wet food in one of those plastic little dishes she will pick it up and carry it over to the carpet. I try not to get mad at her but this drives me nuts and now her food is on my rug which is easy to clean and she takes it to the carpet that I dont have an easy time cleaning. I swear she is doing it just so she can laugh at me cleaning it up. Now Monster on the other hand likes to stick her paw in her wet food to eat it and then she flings her wet food off her paw once she has licked all the gravy off resulting in her wet food being on the walls. I think I would rather have her take the dry food to the carpet rather than splatter my walls with wet food.
Anyone else have these troubles with their pets? How did you solve the issue? Is it a solvable issue?

Another Vet visit!

So since we had little faith in our old vet, since she was a week from birth and he could not tell she was pregnant, we had a visit with a new vet yesterday. At lovely VCA Oshtemo pet hospital and saw the wonderful vet named Amber. I could tell right away that this vet was loads better than our old one. From the minute we walked in they fawned over our animals and treated us like we where really welcome. Then we get into the room within a minute maybe less of arriving. A vet assistant come in and says she would like to see the puppies and proceeds to coo and fawn over the puppies with delight while not being neglectful of Maja. Where as Maja was always terrified of our old vet she seemed almost at easy by the end of the appointment. The puppies all weighed in at over two pounds and seem to be developing quite nicely. I will have a youtube video up when its edited.

Another thing that happened yesterday was Vanilla got to meet her future mom. She was so calm and happy in the woman's hands I know its going to be a great match they seem so well suited for each other!

Poor Kitty

I think the hardest adjustment of having puppies has been how Monster is trying to adjust. All her encounters with dogs other than Maja have been negative. She was terrified of Maja when I brought Maja home. It took me leaving for three and a half months and Maja being one of her only companions to get use to Maja. THEN BAM PUPPIES. I don't think the puppies would be so bad if it where not for the fact that Maja has turned aggressive on her. I understand mothers instinct and wanting to protect her puppies but I wish she would remember that Monster is her friend and not bite my cat. I am hoping that when the puppies go Maja will be a little more accepting of Monster. If anyone has any advice on helping Maja and Monster become friends again I would love to hear it I am so scared that Maja is going to kill Monster.

The Beans are a week old!

This Saturday the beans turned one week old! I am so proud of them they are big strong and healthy. They can almost stand and their crawl is starting to develop into more of a walk! They can also yawn which is super cute. I have yet to catch yawns on camera though!

WARNING TMI POST

So lets get down and dirty into the gritty truth about puppies or more importantly the mother dog. So when the beans where born Maja was in so much pain that she was biting the couch and screaming. It killed my I wanted to cry along with her I hated seeing my baby in pain. Each time when the puppies where born they where born in a sac called placenta we actually had to get in there and rip open the sac because Maja couldn't get it. Then Maja proceeded to eat the placenta and clean her puppies and when the next one came we would take the last puppy so she didnt step or bite the puppy and we would dry off the puppy in a towel. Well due to her eating the sac we now have an unforeseen consequence it causes diarrhea VERY VERY BAD diarrhea poor Maja has to go out every few hours and three to six times at night to go potty. I think the next time that Maja has puppies I wont let her eat the sac because this poor girl is not a happy camper.
There is also one more thing that I have noticed that is not TMI but kinda sad and frustrating. Every litter has a runt and out litter runt is not that small but still smaller than the rest of the litter and I have noticed that Maja seems not to let the runt latch or feed off her because she either does not have enough milk because naturally the runt is the last to eat. Another reason the runt does the weird jerking when he eats he thrashes his head from side to side very violently for a puppy who weighs less than a pound. So because of that Maja naturally does not want to feed it. Our bottles for the puppy should be coming tomorrow and we will start puppy feeding out of a bottle till then heres to hoping and praying that he is getting enough till then.
